Read the following excerpt from the poem "The Inchcape Rock":

No stir in the air, no stir in the sea,
The ship was still as she could be;
Her sails from heaven received no motion,
Her keel was steady in the ocean.

Without either sign or sound of their shock,
The waves flow’d over the Inchcape Rock;
So little they rose, so little they fell,
They did not move the Inchcape Bell.

In one well-developed paragraph with a topic sentence and supporting details, explain how the language in this excerpt develops the mood. (Make sure you clearly explain what the mood is, too!)

Use specific evidence from the excerpt to support your ideas.

Hey there!

The poem is calm yet also sad. It has a calm tone, but it describes sadness. It describes sadness because It said the ship couldn't move, meaning that whoever was on the boat, was stuck. Later in the poem, the tone gets dramatic because the waves move the boat so it could move again.

Hopefully this helps!
Have a great day (:
