PLEASE HELP!!!!
1. The hypothesis of an experiment is: if people listen to classical music as they fall asleep; they will sleep for longer periods of time. Designing an experiment to test a hypothesis requires creative thinking. How could an experiment be designed to test the hypothesis described above?
A. collect data on sleep duration time
B. not correct
C. place a group in a room playing classical music as they go to sleep
D. place a control group in a quiet room as they go to sleep, place an experimental group in a room with classical music playing as they go to sleep, and collect sleep duration data from each group

2. A student was testing to see if hummingbirds are drawn to the color red. She hung 4 hummingbird feeders in a tree (one red, one blue, one green, one yellow). At the beginning of each day, she filled each feeder with hummingbird food. At the end of each day, she measured how much food the hummingbirds had drank from each feeder. She did this for 7 days. What was the INDEPENDENT variable in her experiment?
A. not correct
B. Hummingbird feeder color
C. Amount of food the hummingbirds drank
D. Number of days she did the experiment

3. What was the DEPENDENT variable in her experiment?
A. not correct
B. Hummingbird feeder color
C. Amount of food the hummingbirds drank
D. Number of days she did the experiment

4. What variables should she have controlled for, so they would not affect the results of her experiment?
A. Use the same type of hummingbird food in all feeders.
B. not correct
C. Use the same type and size of feeders (the only difference should be the color).
D. All of the above. (I sure D is wrong since B is wrong)

5. A student wanted to see what the affect of temperature is on glow sticks. He activated three glows sticks and put one in hot water, one in cold water, and one in room temperature water. He rated how “bright” each glow stick was on a scale of 1 to 10. What was the INDEPENDENT variable in his experiment?
A. not correct
B. How long the glow sticks lasted
C. Water temperature
D. Amount of water

6. A student wanted to see what the affect of temperature is on glow sticks. He activated three glows sticks and put one in hot water, one in cold water, and one in room temperature water. He rated how “bright” each glow stick was on a scale of 1 to 10. What was the DEPENDENT variable in his experiment?
A. How bright the glow sticks were
B. How long the glow sticks lasted
C. not correct
D. Amount of water

7. A student wanted to see what the affect of temperature is on glow sticks. He activated three glows sticks and put one in hot water, one in cold water, and one in room temperature water. He rated how “bright” each glow stick was on a scale of 1 to 10. What variables should he have controlled for, so they would not affect the results of his experiment?
A. not correct
B. Activate glow sticks at same time
C. Place them in water at same time
D. All the above (I'm sure D is wrong because A is wrong)

1) d

2) b because the independent variable is the thing you change/control in an experiment

3) c because the dependent variable is the thing being measured in an experiment

4)hmm it might be d, as c and a are both correct as different sized feeders would make it an unfair test and different types of food would as well

5) c

6) a

7) b obviously because if he activated them at different times then the ones activated last would have an advantage
