In 1708. Johann Sebastian Bach settled in Weimar, Germany, where he began his first major creative period. Bach lived in Weimar from 1708. to 1717. as an organist of the Duke of Saxe-Weimar. Through this period, Bach composed many of his great organ works and became very famous as an organist. He was often invited to play in other big churches and to give advice on organ building.
