Harriet Tubman is considered a hero because she worked at the underground railroad and also helped many slaves escape to live freely.
One of her quotes were:- "I freed a thousand slaves I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves."
Conductors on the underground railroad worked to help get the slaves across places. Usually, they had to cross a river so that the polices' dogs would not smell them, then find that they escaped. She led the slaves to the North to get freedom. The north did not have any slavery, so they were freed. What a hero! She made many free! :)
