The naturalistic literature, opposed to the realistic one, ignored the influence of romanticism and neither did portray life exactly as it was and without ornamentation. Another thing that they DIDN'T do was use scientific observation to explain the human condition.

What naturalistic literature did do, however, was that they took the viewpoint that the unaffected nature is the only true reality (d). 

This can be seen in many works that were published during these times.
