Secular means "they most likely place less importance on religion". This ideology came about during the Renaissance and became a value of reforming countries during the 18th and 19th centuries. Religion became less important as a result of scientific discoveries, the Reformation, and an overall increase in education requiring more logic and reason in one's thinking.
