Your answer would be false..... it is not safer to be lying in a tanning booth rather than on a beach to get a tan because the tanning booth has a higher possibilty of getting skin cancer where as being on the beach getting a tan, would have a lesser (not much but lesser) chance of getting skin cancer.

Answer:

False

Explanation:

Tanning beds and tanning under the sun are both not healthy. The light used in tanning beds and the light from the sun give off UV Radiation that damages our skin. The UV Radiation given off from the light a tanning bed uses gives off 12 times more UV radiation which is stronger than the UV Radiation the sunlight gives off. Tanning beds do not offer a safer alternative to natural sunlight.  Even though both natural sunlight and tanning bed lights give off UV Radiation that can damage our skin and both can cause melanoma which is a skin cancer, some experts found that there is a 75% increase in melanoma which is a skin cancer among those who are using or have used tanning beds than those who use natural sunlight. The AAD states that using a tanning bed once can increase your chance of melanoma by 20%. So even though both are unhealthy tanning in the sun is in fact safer than tanning in a tanning bed.

Hope this helps.
