This quote is towards the end of the novel (obviously since it's in chapter 47), but the purpose of pointing this out is that this quote shows how Mrs. Dashwood has changed. Throughout the novel, the characters come to better understand each other and their motivations. In this line Mrs. Dashwood is showing that she better understands and appreciates the personality of Elinor.
