The term "junk e-mails" refers to e-mails that are ostensibly of a business nature but that are ineffective and accomplish no useful purpose. Junk emails come from businesses to try and attract someone to a product but most of the time they achieve nothing as they are sent to another folder or are poorly marketed. These emails are commonly deleted before the receiver even opens them.
