The New Right was disappointed because Republican Party mainly focused on communism and didn't pay attention to minorities.

After War II the Republican Party ruling president Dwight D Eisenhower was the candidate who later won the presidential election. Even though the party had promised to fight communism, the president gave the troops permission to enforce a court order for racial integration and also signed the civil rights act.

Furthermore, he was against a Wisconsin Congressman who was anti-communism by not supporting him and forced other senators to censure him. The majority of the party's supporters were big and small business, middle-class suburbanites, and white southerners.
