Among the differences we can point out the fact that English colonization adopted the settlement model, at least in the northern colonies, while the Spanish adopted, almost exclusively, the extractive / exploitation model.
Among the similarities we can point to the use of slave labor by the two colonial powers, the collection of taxes on the colony, the mandatory colonial monopoly as a strong imposition and the growing discontent of the colonized with the colonial authorities.
