How would a book written by an anthropologist about an indigenous group of people be different from an autobiography of one of the peoples elders

It would probably be different because an anthropologist can only know so much from artifacts and such. While the elder would know way more because they are actually indigenous and got to see and live in an indigenous group of people. Sorry if it not correct

An anthropologist would be writing from their outside perspective, what they observed while being with the indigenous people. Though they may attempt to be unbiased, there will always be some level of personal bias in writing. An elder of the indigenous group would be writing from their own perspective as someone who is a lifelong member of that group. They would also have a bias, whether intentional or not. An autobiography tells about the authors experience and their life. Though an anthropologist may have experiences being immersed in the culture of the community, they can still never know what it is like to actually be a part of the community naturally.
