Sound devices are extremely important because they can create the moods, textures and expressions to the poetry.

One device you could use is Alliteration. Alliteration is used to bring excitement or mystery to the piece for example the poem 'To My Mother' by Lucretia Maria Davidson. She used a lot of subtle alliteration; Who would have guarded, with a falcon-eye,
Each trembling footstep or each sport of fear?
Who would have marked my bosom bounding high,
And clasped me to her heart, with love’s bright tear?

Footstep and fear alliterate, and bosom and bounding alliterate. This use changes the way you say the word by making the reader emphasize on the beginning letter.
