Llobasco is considered one of the main centers potters and ceramics of Central America and cradle of the crafts in El Salvador, going back the ceramic activity to the pre-Columbian time. Its craft in mud is very varied. It includes so-called "miniatures", figures that represent typical scenes no larger than five centimeters; and the "surprises pícaras", which are scenes covered with a piece of clay painted and shaped like a fruit, an egg, a house or something similar.
