When a pigment molecule in a light-harvesting complex absorbs a photon of light, what happens to its excited-state electron? when a pigment molecule in a light-harvesting complex absorbs a photon of light, what happens to its excited-state electron?

Respuesta :

When a pigment of molecule in a light harvesting complex absorb a photon of light, it excites the electrons in the chlorophyll. These excited electrons move rapidly to an energy level that is farther from the nucleus and at this stage it has a high amount of potential energy. When chlorophyll absorbs light, the excited electrons dropped back to the ground state, releasing excess energy in form of heat and light.
