The Lazarus Theory of Emotion states that a cognitive appraisal is the first step in an emotional response and that all other aspects of an emotion, including physiological arousal, depend on it. It is made by a psychologist named Richard Lazarus. It states that a thought must come prior to any physiological arousal or emotion. It means that you must think first about the condition prior having an emotion.
